Volunteer Firefighter Expectations To Uphold
As a volunteer firefighter, you are a vital part of the community’s emergency response team. Members are expected to uphold the following standards:
Professional Conduct

Represent the department with integrity, respect, and professionalism at all times.

Treat fellow members, partner agencies, and the public with courtesy and respect.

Follow the chain of command and departmental policies.
Training & Readiness

Attend scheduled trainings, drills, and meetings to maintain skills and certifications.

Maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) in a ready state.

Strive for continuous improvement in firefighting, rescue, and EMS support skills.
Response
-
Respond safely and promptly to calls when available.

Operate department apparatus and equipment responsibly, only within your level of training and certification.

Follow all safety procedures and remain situationally aware on scene.
Teamwork

Support fellow firefighters on and off the scene.

Communicate clearly and effectively with command and crew members.

Accept assignments and complete them to the best of your ability.
Commitment

Contribute time and effort consistently to the department.

Support Personnel Expectations to Uphold
Support personnel are critical to the success of the department by assisting with non-emergency functions. Members serving in support roles are expected to:

Work cooperatively with firefighters, staff, and the public.
Training & Participation

Attend relevant training sessions, meetings, and events as appropriate.

Learn and maintain familiarity with support tasks and procedures.

Stay informed of department updates and activities.
Support Duties

Assist with administrative tasks, communications, fundraising, or public education.

Provide logistical support during emergencies (e.g., rehab, scene support, supply management).

Help maintain facilities, equipment, and records as assigned.
Teamwork

Work in coordination with firefighters and leadership.

Be flexible and ready to step in where help is needed.
